Telstra experienced an unplanned outage from approximately 4:25pm on Friday afternoon the 18th of July until 4:48am on Sunday the 20th July. This outage affected Internet Access for all Telstra/Bigpond Broadband customers (except users on NextG). Some customers who access their internet from other ISPs, may have also experienced outages of their service temporarily as well. The issue was infrastructure related, meaning that anyone who uses it to access the internet (Exetel, Optus, CE Internet etc) would have also been affected. Thankfully the issue was treated as priority and service was restored within 48 hours.
